Just when you thought genuinely interesting mutations of the emo genre had all but disappeared, Carson Wells come thundering down from their native Aberdeen, bringing with them churning guitar lines, furious drumming and desperate vocals that show there's hope for the genre yet. Sitting somewhere between groovy 2000s post-hardcore like Kolya and Sinaloa and frantic catchy euroscreamo like Raein, it's sad and it's noisy, it's twisting and mesmering and yet direct when it needs to be.
